Old soles

I was just digging around in the back of my closet for my camel back to take snowboarding up in Whistler, B.C. this weekend and found some OLD SCHOOL, OLD SOLES in a very dusty box.

My beloved cross country spikes and flats!
These are still crusted with 20+ -year old dirt from long-ago cross country races. It's been a long time, my friends! I'm thinking my old school racing flats are now hip "zero drop" shoes these days. I just might have to resurrect these for the upcoming St. Paddy's Day 5k.

Anyone else out there save their old sports gear from the good old days? Do you, too, feel that the older you get, the better you were?

  1. I didn't keep anything from high school, but I have a really hard time throwing away any of my old running shoes. Have fun snowboarding in Whistler!

  3. Hey Alma, thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday and leaving those website suggestions, I will definitely check them out. I've been looking for other pregnant mom blogs! And yes, the 140 bpm is total bogus, (which we've both discovered)for women who are used to an exercise program.

I still have my track shoes, spikes and all, from my high school track days. I just can't throw them away! Those puppies won me a lot of races back in the day (when I was fast...haha!)

  4. I so wish I would have kept my shoes from high school and college track...would be fun to reminisce. I do have my first pair of marathon shoes ('97) and my first BQ shoes ('08)....I think I'm going to post one day about the heel strike differences from then to now.

I love those old green Avias....definitely must wear for St. Patty's Day race!!

  7. I keep trying to keep my old running shoes but my wife keeps insisting I throw them out. Apparently they "smell".

  9. I save all my race numbers in a box. Recently found my swimming ribbons... in a box. I guess I have a lot of boxes of stuff! My husband tells me there is a trash bag full of my retired running shoes out at our old house. I don't know why I keep them. I feel like I'm getting rid of old friends when I send them on their way!
